Stress dis-regulation and how it affects our health

‘Stress’ is a natural human response that is triggered by a perceived threat to our safety. The Hypothalamus, a small centre in the brain is continuously receiving information from all our senses and sending it to the pituitary gland (the control centre) where it activates our body to a particular response. If all is well in the world, our Parasympathetic nervous system is activated promoting rest, digestion, sleep, reproduction and repair. If however a threat is perceived, the Sympathetic nervous system ‘kicks in’ to support us to fight, freeze or run away. The body is constantly working to maintain homeostasis (balance). Unfortunately our lives are significantly more complex and multi-layered than that of our primitive ancestors and therefore our perceived threats to life come in many different forms from work deadlines, electromagnetic radiation, pesticides, processed foods, toxic load, etc etc. The result of this is that often our bodies remain in a chronic state of stress that gradually impacts our health.

How kinesiology can help:

balancing your stress bucket

When we have so many layers of stressors in our lives, it is hard to know where to start in supporting our bodies back into balance so that it can heal. Kinesiology offers a wonderful way of receiving biofeedback from our body via the art of muscle monitoring. Stress dis-regulation. We can determine where in the energy system the imbalances lie and what the priorities are to work with. We are looking for imbalances in the structural/physical realm, the biochemical/nutritional realm, the emotional/mental realm and the electrical realm. With this feedback from our muscles, we can work with a number of tools and techniques that support the body, layer by layer, back into balance. This breaks the constant feedback loop of stress signals and the body starts to heal. If you would like to explore the root cause of your symptoms, I would love to support you.
