Kinesiology to the body

My first experience of kinesiology was from a place of desperation. It was a rather reluctant attempt to try something completely different (that I had never heard of before!!) after exhausting (without any significant improvements), the more conventional healthcare options that I had available to me. I was 24 years old, recently married and had just been given a diagnosis of ME (Chronic fatigue).

Kinesiology changed my life. I was feeling really low, facing what I thought was going to be a life-sentence of heavy and aching joints and muscles, chronic headaches, brain fog, exhaustion, eczema, heavy and irregular periods, IBS and depression, low self-esteem, eating disorder, etc. This rather mind-blowing and not altogether comfortable first experience of kinesiology revealed significant food intolerances and a suggestion that the inflammation and imbalances in my gut, were the root cause of many of my symptoms.

With adjustments to my diet immediately implemented along with nutritional supplements taken ‘onboard’, I very quickly noticed a turning point in my health. Something woke up in me that day that led me on a very long and curious journey to find out more about this intriguing modality and being the ‘open-minded sceptic’ that I was, I needed to prove it right or prove it wrong! As my health gradually improved and my stamina returned, I was able to experience kinesiology from both a personal point of view through experiencing regular treatments and from a professional point of view when my kinesiologist started referring her clients to me for massage.

I was intrigued by the patterns of muscle tension and the reported meridian imbalances as well as the emotional connections to my symptoms. In time, my curiosity got the better of me and I signed up to do a course!! Now, over 20 years on, I have taken my Kinesiology training to the highest level, now registered as a Functional Kinesiology Professional, Touch for Health Kinesiology Instructor and Mentor. This doesn’t mean that I ever stop learning. It’s a career that supports me to learn and grow with each ‘balance’ given or received. Because we work with the direct feedback from the body, every single session is different and it reveals the next layer of support that the body needs to access the innate healing wisdom within.

I have learnt that symptoms are just the body’s way of trying to communicate with us. I am no longer afraid of illness or dis-ease. Instead, I get to witness day by day, the healing potential of the human mind, body and soul and this continues to blow my mind! I am so passionate about this work and sharing the hope that it has given me. I live by the mantra ‘to live, learn and pass it on’ and hope that my story has inspired you to give Kinesiology a go!
